Fall fishing on local Eastern Sierra waters continues to be very good this week - the end of October 2011!!!
I had the pleasure of fishing some new and fun clients which made for a great week at "work". We experienced beautiful fall afternoons; the weather has been perfect this week...
(Image: Chuck Hunt holds one of his wife's lit up EW brown trout - Great day!!)
(Image: Shar with another fine angling moment following a legendary battle!)
(Image: David Carrannza and I had an EPIC day on the Upper Owens today!!!!! Many of these fish were hooked on a #22 Trico Spinner which made even more exciting!)
(Image: David managed to hook a good number of proud fish including 5 of that went 19-22". And he broke off one humongous rainbow that made all these fish look small)
(Image: Maybe it was the stealth brown trout Buff that made the difference?)
(Image: Not the same fish but hooked within 100 yards of each other - twin Loch Ness Monsters from Crowley Lake!!!)
The fish in the Upper Owens are spring creek smart and very wary. Stealth and knowledge of the river will put you in the right place - but only the right cast, presentation, and flies will earn the reward. It's very satisfying when it all comes together!
I have been hearing great reports on Crowley Lake this week as well. I'm too busy trying to prepare for my 3 month steelhead season up North so I already pulled my boat for winter storage. Call me if you want a recommendation on guides or advice.
Speaking of steelhead, my calendar is filling in fast - I'm nearly completely booked for November & December but recently had some cancellations come up...
Trinity Steelhead Availability Dates:
November: 5, 6, 7,
December: 16, 17, 18
January: 4-18 still available
Thanks for tuning in...
